Portrait of Charles-Francois Latchoumane

Biography – Expertise:

Dr. Latchoumane is an expert in signal processing, system neuroscience, behavioral genetics, and in vivo electrophysiological recording and stimulation. His work includes human electroencephalograms (EEG) analysis, sleep and dementia diagnostic system in human, sleep and memory consolidation in mice, thalamic control of emotion and consciousness in mice, and neurostimulation of the rehabilitation of the injured central nervous system in rats.

B.S., National Polytechnical Institute of Grenoble (INPG), 2004 – Physics Engineering
M.S., National Polytechnical Institute of Grenoble (INPG), 2006 – Instrumentation for Biotechnologies
M.S., Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), 2006 – Bio and Brain Engineering - Neuroscience
Ph.D., Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), 2010 – Bio and Brain Engineering - Neuroscience

Research Interests:

Dr. Latchoumane focuses on developing methods to promote physiological and behavioral recovery following central nervous injuries. Neurostimulation techniques and biomaterial implants are two promising venues for the treatment of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and Dr. Latchoumane is looking to combine these two methods to derive faster functional recovery following brain injury.
