Overview

Animal and Dairy Science provides instructional, research and extension programming in the areas of food animal production, equine-companion animal management, and animal and medicinal biotechnology that addresses issues, such as production costs, profitability, human and animal health, environmental stewardship, bioethics and animal well-being.

ADS on the Tifton Campus

The beef cattle center at the Coastal Plain Experiment Station in Tifton, Ga., consists of a 250 cow operation with feedlot and metabolism facilities. The dairy cattle center at CPES includes flush-clean main barns accommodating 200 cows.

ADS Facilities

The animal and dairy science department has modern facilities for housing swine, sheep, beef cattle, dairy cattle, horses, and laboratory animals on both the Athens and Tifton campuses, and a beef research unit in Eatonton.
